We are partnering with a highly regarded metropolitan council in Sydney, seeking a Strategic Planner to join their collaborative and high-performing strategic planning team.
Located within one of Sydney's most desirable and strategically important regions, this opportunity will see you contribute to the future growth and development of a well-established local government area through a range of strategic land use planning projects.
Your new role
Reporting to the Strategic Planning leadership team, you will work closely with a team of experienced planners, heritage specialists and technical consultants to deliver strategic planning outcomes that support sustainable community growth.
Key responsibilities include
- Leading and coordinating strategic land use planning projects
- Assessing and managing Planning Proposals
- Contributing to master planning initiatives for centres and precincts
- Preparing and implementing Local Strategic Planning Statements (LSPS)
- Providing strategic planning advice across a range of policy and growth-related projects
- Engaging with state government agencies, consultants and community stakeholders
- Preparing reports and recommendations for senior management and Council
What you'll need to succeed 5+ years' experience in strategic planning within local government
Strong knowledge of NSW planning legislation and strategic planning frameworks
Experience assessing Planning Proposals and delivering strategic planning projects
Exposure to centre master planning, housing strategies or precinct planning initiatives
Excellent stakeholder engagement and report writing skills
Relevant qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline
