About The Role As a Senior Technical Solutions Specialist, you will provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of business-critical applications, integrations and cloud-based technologies that support Biosecurity and Food Safety operations across NSW. You will manage, maintain and enhance applications and system integrations across legacy and contemporary platforms. This includes diagnosing complex technical issues, undertaking root cause analysis, and designing secure, scalable and reliable solutions using modern development frameworks and cloud-based services.

You will lead technical projects from concept through to implementation and transition to support, working closely with business stakeholders, vendors and technical teams. You will also provide expert advice on application architecture, integration design and future technology direction, including the responsible adoption of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.

The role operates across both operational support and project delivery. You will need to manage competing priorities, minimise service disruption and identify opportunities for automation, process improvement and technology enablement.

This role also contributes to emergency preparedness and response activities, including participation in emergency management training, preparedness exercises and a duty on-call rotation during responses.

About You

You are a technically capable and solutions-focussed professional who enjoys solving complex problems and turning business needs into practical, reliable technology solutions. You can work across operational support, project delivery and longer-term technology improvement, while remaining responsive when priorities change.

You communicate complex technical concepts clearly and build productive relationships with business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors and service providers. You take a considered approach to technology decisions, balancing business outcomes with security, reliability, cost, risk and enterprise requirements.

As Our Ideal Candidate, You Will Bring

- Strong experience designing, developing, and implementing enterprise applications and system integrations across complex environments (cloud-based, legacy, and contemporary),

applying sound software engineering, integration, and cloud architecture principles to deliver secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
- Demonstrated capability in supporting live applications, diagnosing complex technical issues, conducting root cause analysis, and driving continuous improvements in performance and reliability.
- Solid understanding of project, vendor, and contract management practices, with the ability to lead technical initiatives from concept through implementation and operational transition.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions, explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and apply emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and cloud-native services, to drive process improvement and business outcomes.

Essential Criteria

- Substantial demonstrated experience developing and supporting business-critical applications, integrations or cloud-based solutions within a large-scale, complex enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing external vendors, contractors or service providers to deliver technical outcomes against agreed contractual and performance obligations.
- Demonstrated experience delivering technical projects from initiation through to implementation, including engaging stakeholders and managing competing priorities within resource and time constraints.
