Role Description: The AI Tech Lead is a senior technical delivery role responsible for leading the engineering execution of AI solutions. The role partners with the Business Engagement Lead to translate business use cases and product objectives into robust technical solutions, implementation plans, and sprint goals, while providing day-to-day technical leadership to a remote engineering pod.

Salary: AUD 150742– 171215 Annual Gross

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with the Business Engagement Lead to understand business use cases and translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Coordinate with the remote POD team to drive successful implementation of AI solutions.
- Lead the pod’s day-to-day development activities and technical decision-making.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the POD team, ensuring alignment with solution architecture and delivery goals.
- Translate product objectives into implementation plans, backlog items, and sprint goals.
- Lead technical design decisions, resolve blockers across pods, and manage code reviews and shared modules to ensure engineering consistency.
- Drive agile delivery practices including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and velocity tracking.
- Work closely with the Tech Chapter Lead and Engagement Lead to align technical decisions with the AI platform strategy, business goals, and cross-team dependencies.
- Represent the pod in technical forums, showcases, and architecture reviews.
- Communicate technical risks, trade-offs, constraints, and decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide timely updates to the Engagement Lead on technical decisions and stakeholder conversations.




- Support onboarding and mentoring of developers and AI engineers while fostering technical excellence, experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement.

Technical Expertise & AI engineering Requirements

- Solid backend development expertise using Python for APIs, with proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript desirable.
- Strong front-end development experience using React.js.
- Hands-on experience with AWS serverless and application services including Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, SQS, and S3.
- Hands-on database experience including PostgreSQL and SQL, with strong database design capability.
- Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and infrastructure-as-code using AWS CDK or CloudFormation.
- Strong understanding of AWS cloud architecture and a broad range of AWS services.
- Experience with cloud-native development, including secure handling of secrets, environment variables, and service configurations.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for AI systems and microservices, repository governance, code ownership, and team-based access control.
- Ability to manage API specifications, service integrations, API testing, and authentication flows across service layers.
- Familiarity with unit testing frameworks and engineering best practices.
- Practical knowledge of implementing agentic AI for business use cases.
- Experience using observability tools for tracing, logging, and performance monitoring.
- Awareness of enterprise data privacy and cybersecurity standards, including responsible handling of user interactions and logs, data retention, and observability boundaries.

Essential:

- 10+ years of overall technology and software engineering experience.
- Proven experience leading technical delivery and engineering execution for cloud-based solutions.
- Strong hands-on development capability across Python, React.js, AWS services, databases, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Demonstrated ability to provide day-to-day technical leadership, make design decisions, resolve delivery blockers, and maintain engineering quality.
- Experience working in agile software development environments and translating product objectives into implementation plans and sprint goals.




- Ability and willingness to collaborate daily with a Perth-based Engagement Lead during the discovery and delivery phases.
- Ability to engage effectively with business stakeholders, technical leaders, architecture forums, and distributed engineering teams.
