About the jobWe're looking for someone who notices opportunities for content, every moment in the day.
The kind of person with 9 saved folders on Instagram of creative content ideas they love,
notices when a brand's grid suddenly gets good,
and has strong opinions about the first 1.5 seconds of a video.
We are ready to start this new successfuly hire, as soon as we find the perfect fit.
Decant Agency is a Burleigh Heads digital marketing agency (expanding to a new larger space in Currumbin in October) with a client list spanning ecom, hospitality, fitness, tourism and plenty in between.
This role sits inside our Content Capture department - the team who dream up, shoot and cut the content that everything else runs on.
One thing worth clearing up early: this is not an organic social account management role. You're not writing captions or running community management. You're designing, capturing and editing the creative that our organic and paid teams take to market. If creative concepting and shooting is the part of social you actually love, this is unequivocally the for you.
This role is open to people with roughly 1–2 years behind them, in-house, agency, freelance, or building something of your own. Your skill will be piloted with a paid trial day with the team, so come ready to show us what you're made of.
? No, you don't need to be a pro photographer
You do not need to know your way around a DSLR, a lighting rig or Lightroom. This role is mobile-first - phone in hand, filming and editing. When a job calls for pro gear, you're working alongside our experienced photographers and videographers, not replacing them. On those days your job is the creative: the concept, the shot list, the direction or assist, the props, the model, the set.
If you happen to have pro camera skills, great, tell us. It's a bonus, not a requirement.
? What you'll actually do / 5 days per weekConcept it. You'll design mobile-first post and ad concepts for your clients - the hooks, the formats, the trends worth borrowing and the ones worth ignoring.Film it. On your phone. In store, on location, in studio, in the office, in the car park if the light's right.Cut it. Mobile editing (CapCut and friends) plus basic Canva design to finish things off.Design the shoots. Shot lists, location scouting, prop sourcing, model and talent wrangling, call sheets - then directing or assisting on the day alongside our photographers. (Training provided if this element is new)Work across teams. You'll collaborate with our graphic designer and our paid ads specialists, briefing and being briefed, so the creative you make is actually the creative they need.Use the data. Each month you'll go into the backend - organic insights and ad performance notes - work out what genuinely landed and why, and design the next batch of post and ad creative off the back of it. This is the bit that separates someone who makes nice content from someone who makes content that works.Talk to clients.
You'll join calls to talk creative direction and pitch your fabulous shoot ideas.
You'll be backed up by our Head of Content Capture and her world of wisdom, and have the full creative + organic team to bounce new product niches or creative shoot ideas off.
? The data bit (don't panic)You don't need to be a spreadsheet person. You do need to be curious enough to open the insights tab, work out why the scrappy one outperformed the beautiful one, and let that change what you make next month. We'll teach you the rest.
?? YouAround 1–2 years in content creation, social, UGC or something adjacent. In-house, agency, freelance or your own thing - we're not precious about where you learned it.Comfortable on camera as well as behind it. A lot of our work needs a hand, a walk-and-talk, a POV, a face.
You don't need to be an actor, you just can't hate it.Confident in your English writing, can proofread your own work, can write in different brand tones and can work from a supplied, thorough brief.Organised enough that a shoot day doesn't unravel - props ordered, talent confirmed, shot list ready, battery charged. You can take feedback on creative without taking it personally, and you can give it too. You're across what's happening in short-form content without treating every trend as gospel.
⭐️ What great looks like in this roleWe'd rather tell you now than have you guess:
First three months — you're running your own mobile content days confidently, your edits need light feedback rather than rebuilds, and you know your clients' brands well enough to know what they'd never post.Six months — you're building shot lists and shoot concepts start to finish, briefing our designers and ads team clearly, and bringing ideas to the table that nobody asked for. You're deeply involved in your in-office professional development hours and are suggesting new areas you want upskilling in.Twelve months — your monthly creative batches are shaped by what the data told you, not what you felt like making, and clients are asking for your take on calls. You're exploring opportunities to take on new responsibilities to help grow Decant.
?️ Perks & In-Office / WFH BalanceThe role runs across 5 days a week, with a 3pm finish on Fridays.
You also get 2 days WFH per week and a 7min-drive-from-the-beach location, in our new Currumbin Waters studio.
The hours you work within are negotiable. Aside from important meetings, client calls and shoot days, we value our team's autonomy over their own week - if you work best starting early, or taking the middle of the day to swim, run or do a grocery shop, we welcome it.
Our office is dog friendly, if you have a well-behaved pooch or just enjoy the company of one of our team's two furry offsiders.
Our team enjoy a Duvet Day (day off)
for their birthday.
They can also use their Sick Pay hours for proactive healthcare, like dentist and doctor appointments.
We pay a monthly device allowance — relevant here, since your phone is your camera — and offer a three-figure new client referral bonus.
And we take everyone out for a monthly team outing to the tune of kayaking, rock climbing, paintball, pottery & sip, escape rooms, tennis lessons, watercolour classes, breathwork, distillery picnics, snorkelling, charity volunteering, rage cages, trampoline obstacle courses and baked goods decorating.
? Who are our brands?A stack of clients in the ecom space, along with a healthy dose of restaurant and cafe venues, tourism operators, fitness brands, and a smattering of everything else - award-winning Wineries to architecture, grocery chains to pet brands. We keep our client list fun and fresh, which makes this job an endlessly creative one and means no two shoot days look the same.
? Us, and what we expect from each otherWe don't use cringy management buzzwords and we won't ever ask to "circle back" to a outstanding collaborative suggestion. We will, however, make you list your goals for the month publicly and make you vote on the group activity of the month.
We dedicate time to fortnightly professional development and we want your ideas — on the work, on the clients, on how we do things.
What we expect in return: you own your deadlines, you flag a problem while it's still small, and you don't leave a shoot day for someone else to clean up. We're a supportive team, not a babysitting one — the flip side of the autonomy is that people here follow through.
Our team are diverse yet incredibly close, and enjoy all things Gold Coast. From a lunch outing to a volunteer day with a local charity, the Decant Run Club or sunset knock-offs, we're an easygoing but genuinely passionate collective.
? BonusNot mandatory, but if you have hidden skills in UGC, pro photography, styling, animation, web design, graphic design or any other arm of digital marketing, pop it in your introduction. We'd love to hear about it and it won't be considered bragging.
⭐️ How to stand out as an applicant (yes, there's a video)Every applicant should send us a short-form video. Your pick of either:
> A "heya, get to know me" intro — you, on camera, filmed and edited by you, or> A mashup of some of your favourite work
We're not marking you on your script. We just want to see the creative juice and the editing in action, because a CV physically cannot show us that.
Film it on your phone, cut it however you like, keep it short. Then apply here on LinkedIn and email your video to
[email protected] with the subject line 'HIRE ME'.
? Our processShortlisted candidates will be invited to a paid trial day where you'll meet the team, see our space, meet our office dogs, and experience what a day at Decant is like.
Please note that we will not be accepting any overseas applicants, or applicants that require sponsorship. This position requires in-person days and will not be offered completely remotely.
