Social Media Content Intern
Blackboard · Richmond, Melbourne · 6-month paid internship [2–3] days a week · $33.05 per hour + super (casual)
We're looking for someone who can film social-first TikTok content. Someone who can turn up at a shoot with an iPhone, direct them properly on camera, and come back with footage we can cut together into an ad.
About Blackboard
Blackboard is a creative and paid social agency in Richmond. We work with DTC brands across supplements, health, beverage and consumer goods, and we do everything in-house, from strategy and scripts through to casting, shooting, editing and running the media.
The ads we make are the ones you scroll past on TikTok and Instagram every day. Street interviews, podcast-style sit-downs, testimonials, founder explainers, product demos. Some of it is shot on cinema gear. A lot of it is shot on an iPhone.
Where this goes
Six months paid internship, and for the right person, we're looking to bring you on part-time or full-time at the end of it.
We're growing quickly and we'd rather build the team from people we've trained ourselves. So the plan is that you finish the six months shooting bigger jobs, running your own shoots, and moving toward creative strategy - having a real say in what we make, not just how it's filmed.
What you'd actually be doing
You'd be the person holding the camera.
One day you're meeting a creator at their place to film a testimonial off a script our copy team wrote. The next you're in the CBD with a mic, stopping strangers for a street interview. The week after,
you're in the studio with the founder shooting a podcast or a batch of product b-roll.
Your first few weeks would be on set alongside us, learning how we shoot and why. After that, you'd start taking the simpler shoots yourself.
- Film UGC-style ads with our creators, working from our scripts and shot lists
- Direct talent on camera: delivery, energy, authenticity.
- Shoot street interviews, podcast setups, testimonials, demos and b-roll
- Travel to shoots around Melbourne - creators' homes, studios, the CBD, our studio
- Run smaller shoots on your own once you know how we work, and assist on the bigger ones
- Capture more than the script asks for. Extra hooks, cutaways, reactions, the things that make an ad testable
- Bring ideas to the copy team for future strategy.
- Building the content systems and storyboards for our clients.
Who this is for
- You can film organic TikTok content. Phone footage is completely ideal. We care about how it looks on a feed, not what it was shot on.
- You're good with people. A lot of this job is getting a nervous creator relaxed enough to be authentic on camera
- You understand social. You can tell when content feels genuine and when it's trying too hard, and you know why that matters
- You've got an eye for valuable framing, light, knowing when something looks wrong
- You can get to shoots around Melbourne. A licence and a car make this a lot easier
- You can commit to the six months, [2–3] days a week, and you're looking to build a career in content.
A plus, not a requirement: cinema gear experience, editing in CapCut or Premiere, a personal TikTok or Instagram that does numbers, past UGC or creator work, studying film, media or marketing.
What you get out of it
- A paid internship, $33.05 an hour plus super, [2–3] days a week
- A job at the end, if you're the right person. That's what the six months is designed to lead to
- Six months on shoots for brands with actual budgets behind their ads
- You'll see the whole pipeline. How a script gets written, how it gets shot, how it performs when it runs, and why
- Direct time with the founder on set
- A reel full of work that ran as paid media
How to apply
Send us three things:
1. One or two videos you've shot. A TikTok, an Instagram reel, a uni project, something you made for fun. Organic social content is ideal - it doesn't need to be a paid ad.
2. One ad you've seen on TikTok recently that stopped you scrolling. Link it and tell us what it did in the first three seconds that made you want to keep watching
3. Whether you drive, and your availability over the next six months
No cover letter, and a CV is optional. We're looking at the footage first.
