Noosa Boathouse is an iconic three-level dining, bar and events destination overlooking the beautiful Noosa River. Our venue encompasses a fast-paced 120-seat lunch and dinner restaurant, a large function space with its own commercial kitchen, fish & chips takeaway, Sunset Bar and coffee bar — making this a diverse and dynamic kitchen environment.
Executive Chef Shane Bailey has a strong passion for quality, locally sourced produce. Our modern Australian menu has a subtle Asian influence, with a focus on fresh local seafood, seasonal produce and quality Queensland beef.
We cook from scratch, work with excellent ingredients and take pride in delivering consistently high-quality food across our restaurant and events.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our professional and supportive kitchen team. This is an opportunity to work closely with an experienced kitchen team in a busy, quality-focused kitchen, taking an active role in food preparation, service, kitchen leadership and the day-to-day running of our restaurant and functions.
You will work across our three levels and recently upgraded kitchen, gaining exposure to both high-volume restaurant service and functions and events.
We are looking for someone who genuinely loves cooking, takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a strong team. You will need to be confident leading a team while also being comfortable taking direction and working closely with the Executive Chef and broader management team.
This is a hands-on role suited to a chef who enjoys a quick-paced workplace,
quality ingredients and the opportunity to contribute to a professional kitchen.
Normal hospitality hours apply, including weekends, evenings and split shifts.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for a chef who can bring strong technical skills, leadership and a positive attitude to our kitchen team.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a Sous Chef position
- Experience in a similar fast-paced kitchen
- Experience working with high-quality ingredients
- Chef Trade qualifications
- Experience in a high-volume restaurant kitchen
- Ability to take direction and also lead a team
- Maintain excellent hygiene & food handling standards

Job Responsibilities
- Food production in accordance with production requirements, ensuring correct methods of cooking and presentation, consistency in product and quality to achieve a high level of guest satisfaction
- Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Assisting exec chef in planning restaurant and function menus
- Assisting exec chef with estimating food and labour costs, and daily food orders
- Assists with conducting daily briefings and meetings in restaurant and functions to ensure effective channels of communications are maintained, thus minimise errors. This includes strong communication with managers, kitchen and wait staff with special care in communicating dietary requirements and food allergy information
- Handle all food and beverage items and maintain all food storage, preparation and service areas in accordance with Australian Food Safety and Hygiene Standards
- Demonstrating correct cooking and kitchen techniques for preparing and storing foods including sous vide, grilling, deep frying, cryovacing, freezing and preserving foods
- Assist in the departmental induction and training of kitchen staff as requested. May act as mentor to apprentice chefs
