Cardinal Care Support Services is looking for a caring and experienced Speech Pathologist to join our team in Cairns. You will support NDIS participants with communication and swallowing needs, helping them improve their independence and participation in daily life.

We can assist the successful applicant with relocation costs, first month’s accommodation and a vehicle for work purposes.

About the role

You will

- Assess clients using formal and informal tools to identify speech, language, communication, learning and swallowing difficulties.
- Prepare and deliver individual therapy plans for children and adults with developmental, disability-related or acquired communication needs.
- Provide swallowing assessments and advice on secure eating, drinking, body positioning, and food and fluid textures where required.
- Provide education, advice and practical strategies to clients, families, carers, support workers, teachers and other health professionals.
- Work closely with other health professionals, support coordinators and service providers as part of the client’s care team.
- Prepare reports, maintain accurate case notes and monitor client progress.

About you

You will have





- A Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Speech Pathology, Speech and Language Therapy or a related recognised qualification.
- Eligibility for Certified Practising Speech Pathologist status with Speech Pathology Australia, or a successful Australian skills assessment for overseas qualifications.
- Experience working with people with disability, children, aged care clients or people with communication and swallowing needs.
- Strong assessment, report writing, communication and time-management skills.
- A current driver licence and willingness to travel to client locations.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and current First Aid and CPR certificate, or willingness to obtain them.
