Sydney Fish Market - Visitor Experience (Tour Guides)

Who we are The Sydney Fish Market (SFM) in Glebe is the southern hemisphere’s largest fish market, one of Australia’s most visited attractions, and the beating heart of the nation’s seafood industry. A-once-in-a-generation precinct that redefines retail, dining, and visitor experience on Sydney’s waterfront.

We are looking for Tour Guides who are passionate and knowledgeable about food and history, has a knack for storytelling and ability to provide educational and entertaining seafood industry programs to visitors of the SFM site.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging guided tours of the Sydney Fish Market, including areas such as the commercial fishing wharves, auction floor, and retail spaces. (Training provided)
- Share knowledge about the seafood industry, sustainability practices, species diversity, and market operations and history.
- Engage diverse audiences, answer questions, and tailor delivery to group interests.
- Ensure visitor safety and comfort during tours, follow all site access and safety protocols.
- Assist with special programs and site-wide events
- Collaborate with operations staff, retailers, and partners to ensure a seamless and professional visitor experience.




- Maintain accurate tour records and report on attendance, feedback, and incidents as required.
- Assist in the Welcome Hub as a first point of contact for Tour bookings and Merchandise promotions.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

- Confident, engaging, and adaptable presentation style.
- Previous experience in guiding, hospitality, education, or customer-facing roles preferred.
- Interest or background in seafood, hospitality, tourism, or environmental sustainability (training provided).
- Comfortable working in dynamic environments and around seafood/market operations.
- Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and professional demeanour
- Multilingual language skills (desirable)
- Availability to work weekends, early mornings, and evenings as required.
