The Role

Part Time (0.4 FTE) | Maximum Term (21 Jan 2027 - 10 Dec 2027)

The work of the Learning Diversity Department is underpinned by the College’s commitment to valuing and accommodating individual differences in students. This role is part of a team of approximately 20 teaching and support staff and reports to the Director of Learning Diversity.

To work as a member of the Learning Diversity staff providing support to students with diverse learning needs, including students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This position ensures that students can access the curriculum and full range of school programs.

In addition to the responsibilities of an MLC teacher, your role specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Liaise with parents of students with additional/diverse needs and report to parents on a regular basis, including Parent Support Group (PSG) meetings
- Assess prospective deaf/hard of hearing students and/or students with learning difficulties
- Liaise with classroom teachers and Deaf Integration staff to provide appropriate support for deaf/hard of hearing students and work with teachers and coordinators to develop and modify curriculum to meet the needs of deaf/hard of hearing students.
- Take an active role in the professional development of colleagues around Deaf Education and participate in appropriate professional development activities in this area.
- Liaise Education Support Staff (ESS), including Auslan interpreters
- Contribute to the Wellbeing Team
- Maintain up to date student records and data entry, including NCCD requirements
- Provide support to students with additional/diverse learning needs including:
- explicit instruction in a small withdrawal class
- support in the classroom,



such as assistance in small groups, or on an individual basis
- Work with subject teachers to adjust/modify curriculum or provide individual educational programs for identified students; and
- Provide advice for teachers regarding teaching strategies and educational materials to promote student learning.

- Effective planning and organisational skills
- Proven competence with use of technology in a learning environment
- Acts professionally and maintains appropriate confidentiality
- Appropriate qualification and demonstrated expertise in relevant subject areas
- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration
- Right to work in Australia
- Adherence to all College policies and demonstration of behaviours in accordance with the Child Safe standards.
- An understanding of the Victorian Child Safe Standards
