Position Information

At James Busby High School we foster a harmonious school culture that focuses on life-long learning, collaboration and inclusivity. This vision stems from our core values of Excellence, Respect, Equality and Safety. JBHS is a diverse and inclusive co-educational comprehensive high school located in south-west Sydney with an enrolment of 540. Our student body is multi-cultural, with 81% of our students coming from a language background other than English and 7% identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Our school includes a large Special Education Unit comprising 10 classes supporting students with a variety of additional needs including mild to moderate intellectual disability and autism.

Selection Criteria

- Approval to teachSpecial Education and/or experience teaching students with autism, mild and moderate intellectual disabilities, with a robust commitment to and passion for inclusive education.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate differentiated learning experiences to maximise engagement and learning growth.
- Well developed communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive partnerships with students, families, carers, school staff and external agencies to improve student outcomes.




- Demonstrated successful classroom management with flexible and adaptive strategies that create a positive learning environment, authentic relationships, and enable each individual's success.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
