Mechanical QA Technician - FIFO | Contract to Permanent Location: Various project sites across Australia
Roster: 10 days on / 4 days off
Contract: Initial 12-month contract with view to permanent employment
Day Rate: $475 per day + Super
Additional Allowances: $120 per day LAHA/Per Diem + $120 per month mobile allowance
We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical QA Technician to join a growing renewable energy OEM delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across Australia.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically focused QA professional who enjoys working on site, supporting project delivery teams and ensuring construction activities meet quality, technical and contractual requirements.
The position will initially be offered on a 12-month contractor basis, with a strong view to transitioning into a permanent full-time position following successful completion of the contract.
The Role As a Mechanical QA Technician, you will provide on-site technical and quality support to project managers, EPC contractors and site teams. You will play an important role in ensuring mechanical installation and construction activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, quality requirements and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Providing on-site mechanical QA and technical support to project managers, EPCs and contractors.
- Conducting approximately 10% site quality inspections/QC activities in line with contractual requirements.
- Identifying, documenting and following up construction quality issues and deviations.
- Raising Construction Deviation Reports (CDRs) where required and providing them to the relevant Project Manager.
- Preparing detailed site visit and swing reports following site attendance.
- Providing technical guidance and training to site personnel where required.
- Supporting demonstration and build activities to help establish best-practice installation methods.
- Attending regular Technical Advisor and project meetings.
- Participating in Construction Kick-Off Meetings, both remotely and in person.
- Working closely with field applications and commissioning teams to provide technical insights and feedback relating to product installation and site requirements.
- Supporting project teams with mobilisation, installation and product application requirements.
- Ensuring site activities are undertaken in accordance with relevant quality, safety and project standards.
About You We are looking for a mechanically qualified or experienced professional with a strong understanding of construction quality and site-based project delivery. Ideally, You Will Have
- Experience in mechanical QA/QC, construction, renewable energy, infrastructure, mining or related industries.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience conducting inspections and identifying construction defects or deviations.
- Experience preparing quality documentation, inspection reports and non-conformance/deviation reports.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with EPC contractors,
project managers and site personnel.
- A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to identify issues and provide effective solutions.
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with project and engineering teams.
- A willingness to work a 10/4 site-based roster and travel regularly to project locations across Australia.
What's on Offer
- $475 per day, based on an 8-hour working day.
- Approximately $114,000 gross annualised earnings, based on 48 working weeks, plus Super.
- $120 per day LAHA/Per Diem while away from home for site activities, including travel days.
- $120 per month mobile phone allowance.

- Car hire provided for site travel, with fuel reimbursed through expenses.
- Eligible travel expenses such as parking, tolls, additional baggage and PPE reimbursed via expense claims.
- Travel arrangements managed through the company's nominated travel agency.
- All travel to and from project sites undertaken during work time.
- Potential Permanent Package Following successful completion of the initial 12-month contractor period, there is an opportunity to transition into a permanent full-time position.
The permanent package is expected to include:
- Competitive base salary, subject to annual market adjustments.
