From its Totness base in the Adelaide Hills, our client advises on, supplies, installs and supports sophisticated equipment used across metal processing, tube and pipe, structural steel, fabrication, robotic welding and related manufacturing environments. The business works with leading international manufacturers and supports customers nationally through project delivery, technical service, consumables, spares and long-term partnerships.

Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with flexibility around project activity

General Manager / Managing Director

Indicative package

$80,000–$120,000, depending on project experience and level of responsibility

Purpose of the position

Coordinate specialised machinery projects from order through installation and handover, ensuring technical information, suppliers, logistics, documentation, customers and commercial commitments remain aligned.

Key responsibilities

· Coordinate machinery and manufacturing projects from sales handover through delivery, installation, commissioning and close-out

· Clarify scope, deliverables, responsibilities, risks, milestones and customer expectations

· Liaise with customers, overseas OEMs, freight providers, installers, contractors and internal stakeholders

· Track schedules, actions, decisions, documentation, variations and outstanding information

· Coordinate shipping, site access, bookings, installation resources and commissioning arrangements





· Review practical requirements and raise technical, timing or commercial risks early

· Maintain accurate project files, correspondence, meeting notes and status reporting

· Support quotation, scoping and sales activity by contributing practical project knowledge

· Build sufficient product knowledge to communicate credibly with customers and technical partners

· Assist with after-sales handover, training, warranty matters, spares and ongoing customer opportunities

· Projects are organised, visible and progressed without avoidable surprises

· Risks and missing information are raised early, with help requested before issues escalate

· Customers, OEM partners and internal stakeholders receive clear and timely communication

· Project documentation and commercial records are complete and accurate

· The role contributes to repeat business by delivering a professional customer experience

Candidate profile

Essential

· Practical experience in machinery, manufacturing, fabrication, mechanical trades, industrial projects or a closely related setting

· Strong coordination, planning and problem-solving ability

· Excellent communication with customers, tradespeople, suppliers and technical specialists

· Discipline, attention to detail and ownership of actions through to completion

· Initiative and sound judgement,



particularly when working with limited immediate backup

· Ability to interpret practical technical information; an engineering degree is not required

· Confidence contributing to customer discussions and recognising commercial or sales opportunities

· Willingness to undertake an intensive six-to-eight-month learning period and build a long-term career

Desirable

· Trade qualification such as boilermaker, fitter, fabricator or mechanical trade, or relevant TAFE qualification

· Experience coordinating machinery installation, commissioning, fabrication, automation or capital equipment projects

· Exposure to drawings, specifications, logistics, contractors, safety documentation or Australian Standards

· Experience moving from a hands-on role into supervision, estimating, project coordination or customer support
