The Temporary Employment Register 2026-2027 (the Register) is open to eligible candidates to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for non-ongoing (temporary) employment with the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).

The Register enables NHMRC to access appropriately skilled and experienced individuals at short notice for non-ongoing opportunities that may arise from time to time.

We are seeking people who are committed to:

- the highest levels of ethical behaviour, integrity and professionalism
- APS/NHMRC values and behaviours
- developing their skills and knowledge
- client service and responsive to requests: and
- able to apply frameworks and principles through critical thinking

Non-ongoing employment opportunities may be offered on a full time, part-time or intermittent/irregular (casual) basis depending on business needs and requirements.

NHMRC has offices in Canberra and Melbourne.

To be eligible to work with NHMRC you must:

- Be an Australian Citizen
- Satisfactorily answer all screening questions during the application process.

If you are offered non-ongoing employment, you must:





- Successfully undergo a National Criminal History Check
- Complete a Pre-employment Health Declaration and (if applicable) a pre-employment medical.

Please note that

- Your EOI will remain active until 30 June 2027. After that time, you will be required to submit a new EOI in the 2027-2028 Register
- You will only be contacted regarding your EOI if an opportunity arises that matches your skills and experience
- There is no guarantee an offer of non-ongoing employment will be made.

Candidates should familiarise themselves with the Australian Public Service Principles for candidate use of AI in recruitment as they guide the ethical, responsible and transparent use of AI tools by candidates engaging in APS recruitment processes. These principles are designed to ensure that the use of AI tools by candidates aligns with the expectations outlined in the APS Values and Employment Principles and maintains the integrity of recruitment decisions and outcomes.
