The Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-driven Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will prepare accurate costings for mechanical and structural engineering projects, working closely with engineers and project managers to deliver tailored solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare accurate estimates for small, medium, and large-scale projects.

- Process sales inquiries, develop costings, and prepare formal quotations.

- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure all project components are captured.

- Maintain registers of material and labour costs.

- Create and manage job opening sheets and estimate summaries.

- Ensure documentation is accurate, controlled, and compliant with Barclay Engineering’s procedures.

About you

You are analytical, detail-oriented, and thrive on problem-solving in complex, bespoke environments. You work well under pressure, communicate effectively,



and can build strong working relationships across teams and with clients.

Essential Skills and Experience

- Minimum 7 years’ experience in estimating, preferably in mechanical and/or structural fabrication.

- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and technical specifications.

- Sound knowledge of mechanical and structural engineering principles.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with estimating software/ERP systems is advantageous.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

- Structural steel

- Tanks

- Pipework

- Acoustic Enclosures

- Power Generation Projects

- Switchrooms
