We provide high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout NSW and the ACT, and fight for social justice and equity for our communities.

Your Impact
As a valued member of the Aboriginal Child and Family Advocacy and Support program, you’ll deliver high-quality, culturally safe legal services to Aboriginal children, parents and carers across Care & Protection and Family Law matters. You’ll play a key role in strengthening early intervention, community engagement and advocacy to support families and create better futures. Each day, you will:

- Deliver culturally safe legal advice and representation in Care & Protection and Family Law matters.
- Provide early intervention, community legal education and outreach to support Aboriginal children, parents and carers.
- Manage a diverse caseload, including legal research, case preparation, referrals, file management and court commitments.
- Build solid relationships with community and external stakeholders, supporting effective referrals and holistic client outcomes.
- Collaborate across teams and contribute to practice excellence, continuous improvement, professional development and law reform.

- Maintain high standards of professional conduct and compliance, while supporting regional communities across Dubbo, Moree and surrounding areas.

Your Story & Strengths
You are a skilled and motivated Senior Solicitor with strong Care & Protection and Family Law expertise and a deep respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities. You bring sound judgement, legal excellence and a genuine commitment to culturally safe advocacy and better outcomes for Aboriginal families. Key strengths include:

- Hold a current NSW Practising Certificate with at least 4 years’ experience in Care & Protection/Family Law.
- Bring robust Care & Protection expertise, with sound knowledge of contemporary law, practice and procedure.
- Demonstrate excellent advocacy, communication and legal skills, with sound judgement and a strong commitment to social justice.
- Work effectively and autonomously in a demanding environment, managing competing priorities, deadlines and complex matters.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and respect for Aboriginal communities and a commitment to culturally safe service delivery.

- Hold an unrestricted NSW/ACT driver’s licence and meet required screening checks.

Our Journey Together
At ALS, you’ll find a career that truly matters, one where your work has purpose and impact every day. We are proud to offer a supportive and rewarding environment with a range of generous benefits, including:

- Enjoy the perks of our annual $5000 area allowance for being part of our Moree team!
- Not-for-profit salary packaging to reduce your tax burden, which means you get to keep more of your hard-earned money in your pocket.
- Annual leave loading of 17.5%, ensuring that you are rewarded for your time off and can enjoy a well-deserved break.

Caring for Community & You
To protect the communities we serve, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of safe recruitment practices. Therefore, it is essential that candidates either possess or have the capacity to obtain a current and valid National Police Check and Working with Children (NSW) check for this role.

ALS is committed to equal opportunity and cultural safety in recruitment for all candidates.
