MCJ Appointments are seeking a strategic and collaborative Transport Planner to support the development and delivery of key transport strategies, infrastructure plans and city-shaping projects. Working within the Urban Policy and Planning team, you will combine research, data analysis, community consultation and stakeholder engagement to deliver practical transport outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing transport strategies, infrastructure plans and supporting policies
- Researching government policy, emerging trends and transport planning best practice
- Managing transport projects, consultants and procurement processes
- Supporting active transport, complete streets, parking management and car-share initiatives
- Reviewing planning proposals and development assessments
- Preparing feasibility studies, Council reports, presentations and strategic advice
- Engaging with the community and responding to public enquiries
- Representing Council on Transport for NSW planning and project groups
- Building effective relationships with government agencies and other stakeholders
- Managing multiple projects, priorities, risks and deadlines
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in transport planning, urban planning, land-use planning or a related discipline
- Extensive knowledge of strategic transport planning practices
- Experience in research, consultation,
data analysis and strategy development
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Experience producing high-quality strategic plans and professional reports
- Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong judgement, negotiation and problem-solving abilities
- The ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- A current Class C driver’s licence
- Local government experience will be highly regarded

Additional information
- Local Council
- 12 months contract with possible extension
- $72.06 per hour + Super
