Clinical Coder

Part time (Hours negotiable)

About The Role

We are seeking a Part Time Clinical Coder with high attention to detail and the ability to work on site, weekdays only (No weekends!)

The Clinical Coder is responsible for accurately and timely assigning clinical codes to episodes of care through analysis of clinical documentation using the appropriate version of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM), Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI), applying Australian Coding Standards. The Clinical Coder works collaboratively with the Health Information Manager, Clinical Staff, Ward Clerks, Finance and Patient Billing.

About You

- Recognised degree or qualification in ICD-10-AM coding, for example, completion of Diploma of Clinical Coding or above.

- Experience coding with the Australian Version of The International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) and Australian Standards, Australian Classification of Health Intervention (ACHI) and Australian Coding Standards (ACS).

- Strong attention to detail and provision of high quality work.

- Accurate and timely coding of inpatient separations in accordance with Hospital, State and National Standards.

- Sound knowledge of medical terminology.

- Experience in Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRG) assignment for Activity Based Funding.

- Ability to manage and prioritise own work.

- Advanced computer skills.

- Previous experience in a tertiary or private hospital is desirable.

- Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, diseases, and pathological processes.

- Ability to attend SPH to undertake work. Working remotely is not available.

Desirable

- Knowledge of the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards (ACHS) accreditation process;

- Knowledge of continuous improvement principles

- Experience using Turbocoder
