About the role
We are looking for a Reliability Test Engineer to join our team and support product qualification, engineering evaluation and product development through reliability and functional testing. This hands-on role involves executing tests, analysing and reporting data, maintaining accurate records, and working closely with engineers to improve test methods and drive product quality and performance.
Key responsibilities
Reliability & Functional Testing
- Conduct reliability and functional tests in accordance with defined test plans, requirements and procedures.
- Organise and coordinate test activities, samples, equipment and schedules to ensure tests are carried out systematically and completed within required timelines.
- Set up and operate reliability test equipment, mechanical test equipment, optical test systems and other laboratory equipment as required.
- Closely monitor tests in progress, identify abnormal conditions and promptly communicate issues or observations to the relevant engineers.
Data Collection & Reporting
- Collect, organise and maintain test data accurately and systematically, ensuring data integrity and traceability.
- Record test conditions, observations, abnormalities and results clearly and objectively.
- Prepare reliability test reports and provide timely updates on test status and results.
Test Setup & Laboratory Management
- Set up, maintain and troubleshoot test systems, fixtures, equipment, tools and accessories used in reliability testing.
- Manage test samples and test equipment throughout the testing process.
- Support equipment maintenance, calibration and general laboratory activities.
- Maintain a safe, organised and effective 5S workplace in the reliability laboratory.
Technical Collaboration & Improvement
- Participate in technical discussions related to test plans, test methods, results and observations.
- Provide practical feedback based on test execution and laboratory experience.
- Support the improvement of test setups, procedures, data processing and test methods where appropriate.
- Work with engineers and other technical teams to resolve issues encountered during testing.
Essential skills & experience
- Bachelor’s degree in physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation or a related engineering/science discipline with 2+ years work experience.
- Good understanding of engineering testing and experimental methods, with the ability to understand test requirements, procedures and technical instructions.
- Strong hands-on ability and confidence in setting up, operating and troubleshooting laboratory and test equipment.
- Careful and detail-oriented approach to tests, data collection and analysis, record keeping and test sample management.
- Ability to collect, organize, process and present test results accurately and write technical reports
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to recognise abnormal test conditions and investigate practical test issues.
Desirables
- Previous hands-on experience in an engineering, reliability or laboratory testing environment.
- Experience with optical, photonic, optoelectronic, electronic or mechanical test systems.
- Previous hands-on experience and knowledge with environmental and mechanical reliability testing, such as temperature cycling, damp heat, vibration, shock or related test methods.
- Experience with LabVIEW and Python.
