Duty Manager – Full Time
Maloney’s Hotel, Sydney CBD
Salary: $78,000–$82,000 per annum plus superannuation
Maloney Hotel Group is a well-established hospitality and entertainment group operating several bars, bistros and hospitality venues across Sydney and Bondi Beach. The Group has become a popular destination for locals and visitors, known for its lively atmosphere, quality service and strong hospitality offering.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Duty Manager to join the management team at Maloney’s Hotel. The role is responsible for the smooth, protected and efficient operation of the venue.
The Duty Manager will oversee the venue’s bar, bistro, gaming, functions, entertainment and customer service operations, while providing leadership to staff and ensuring that operational, service and regulatory standards are maintained.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Directing and coordinating the daily operation of the venue across the bar, bistro, gaming, functions, entertainment and customer service areas.
- Managing staff recruitment, induction, training and supervision, including allocating duties, preparing rosters and monitoring employee performance.
- Maintaining high standards of customer experience, resolving complaints, incidents and operational issues.
- Developing and implementing operational procedures to ensure compliance with liquor licensing, gambling, WHS requirements and other applicable NSW legislation.
- Managing venue security, customer welfare and risk management, opening and closing procedures,
emergency responses and incident reporting.
- Managing venue financial performance by monitoring sales, labour costs and operating expenses, and implementing operational measures to achieve profitability targets.
- Overseeing purchasing, inventory control, operational supplies, property maintenance and liaison with suppliers and contractors.
- Planning and coordinating special functions, sporting event screenings, gaming and entertainment activities, including customer bookings and related venue arrangements.
- Maintaining accurate operational records and management handovers and reporting venue performance, risks and operational matters to senior management.
Qualification, Skills and Experience required
Applicants should
· hold a relevant Diploma qualification.
- have at least one year of relevant experience in a similar hospitality management role.
- be able to lead, train and supervise employees across different operational areas.
- have prior experience with staff rostering, cash handling, reconciliations, point-of-sale systems and operational reporting.
- have sound knowledge of liquor, gaming, food safety and work health and safety regulations.
- have strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- be available to work flexible hospitality hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
- hold current RSA & RCG certificates.
