HPP Group is looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team.

We are looking for someone with a strong practical understanding of accounting and experience across month-end, journals, reconciliations and general accounting functions. Formal qualifications are not essential — we are primarily interested in your experience, capability and understanding of how a finance function operates.

This role will suit someone who is technologically confident, adaptable and keen to improve the way things are done. You will be working in a highly digitalised business, so being comfortable with systems and able to learn new technology quickly is essential.

The Role

Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will have involvement across the broader accounting function, with a strong focus on maintaining accurate financial information and ensuring month-end is completed efficiently and on time.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Preparing and finalising month-end accounting processes

- Preparing journals, including accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments

- Completing balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations

- Reviewing transactions and investigating discrepancies

- Assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable and other general accounting functions

- Assisting with purchasing

- Supporting financial reporting and analysis

- Maintaining accurate financial records

- Assisting with accounting and finance-related queries across the business

- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting and efficiencies

Systems & Technology

Strong ERP experience is essential.

HPP Group operates within a highly digitalised environment, and the successful candidate must be comfortable working within an integrated ERP system and understand how accounting functions interact across a broader business system.

We are not looking for someone whose systems experience is limited to MYOB,



Xero or similar standalone accounting software. You will need demonstrated experience working with a more complex ERP environment and the ability to learn and navigate systems confidently.

You will bring practical accounting experience and a strong understanding of core accounting principles, together with the ability to work independently and take ownership of your responsibilities.

- Has strong practical experience with month-end, journals and reconciliations

- Has a sound understanding of accounting principles and financial processes

- Is highly organised with strong attention to detail

- Can identify and resolve issues independently

- Is comfortable managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines

- Is proactive in identifying opportunities to improve processes

- Is versatile and adaptable when systems, processes or business requirements change

- Is confident using technology and able to pick up new systems quickly

An Added Opportunity

While the primary focus of the position is accounting, there is also an opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to social media and digital marketing activities for a few hours each week.

This is not a requirement of the role, but an interest or experience in social media, digital content or marketing would be an advantage.

Given the highly digital nature of our business, someone who enjoys technology, understands digital platforms and is comfortable working across different areas of the business would be particularly well suited to this opportunity.

Qualifications

A Certificate, Diploma or other relevant qualification in Accounting will be considered an advantage, but is not essential.
