Be Bold. Belong. Be More.

At Southern Cross University, we do things differently, and so can you.

A career with us is more than you might expect. Yes, it’s about the heart, connectedness and community you’d hope for in a regional university. But there’s also so much more. Our game changing Southern Cross Model brings a deeper, focused learning experience and our research is deeply connected to our regions, making a difference on a global scale. This is your chance to help us build something new and meaningful for our students, our communities and your career. To drive change, make a real impact, and thrive in a place as unique as you.

You can be good anywhere. Here, you can be great.

Your opportunity

As our Research Analytics Data Coordinator within the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor Research, you’ll turn complex research data into reliable insights that support research performance, reporting and decision-making across the University. Working across the research data lifecycle, you’ll combine strong data analytics, SQL, business intelligence and database skills with an understanding of stakeholder needs to develop data pipelines, dashboards and reporting solutions, while helping optimise the University's Research Management System.

You will make an impact by:

- Develop and maintain automated data pipelines, datasets and analytics solutions using SQL, BI tools and other appropriate data analysis tools
- Manage and enhance the University's Research Management System, collaborating with Technology Services to improve system capability, data quality and business processes
- Transform complex research data from multiple systems into accurate dashboards, reports and insights that support research management and strategic decision-making
- Support research rankings, performance reporting and external submissions through accurate data extraction, validation, reconciliation and analysis

What you will bring

You’re a technically minded data professional who enjoys working with complex datasets, solving problems and finding better ways to turn data into useful information. You’ll bring an analytical mindset, strong database and data pipeline capability,

and the ability to work confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

To succeed in this role, you will also need:

- A degree-level qualification in information technology, business, research administration, data analytics or a related discipline, with relevant experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience using SQL and modern Business Intelligence tools, such as Tableau, to extract, transform, analyse and visualise data
- Experience developing dashboards, reports and data solutions, with a sound understanding of relational data, data quality and validation
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to diagnose system issues, identify data anomalies and develop practical solutions
- The ability to communicate complex data findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders and work collaboratively across a complex organisation

It’s not essential, but we’d love it if you had experience with Python, research administration or research management systems, or working with research data in a higher education, health, government or large not-for-profit setting. Experience with AI and automation tools would also be advantageous.
