Gateway Milling is seeking a keen and experienced Trades Assistant to join our feed mill maintenance team. In this hands-on role you will be responsible for planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across a range of feed mill equipment and production machinery. Our feed mill operates 5 days per week, 24 hours per day.
Key responsibilities
- Assist qualified tradespeople with the setup, maintenance, and operation of tools and equipment
- Support the preparation of work areas and materials for various engineering and manufacturing tasks
- Follow health and safety protocols and procedures at all times
- Assist with the assembly, fabrication, and installation of components under supervision
- Maintain a clean and organised work setting
- Support quality control checks and inspections
- Assist with loading and unloading of materials and finished products
- Learn and develop practical trade skills through on-the-job training
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
About you
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour tasks
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to health and safety
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
- Ability to take direction and work well as part of a team
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
- Flexibility to adapt to different tasks and work environments
- A valid Australian Drivers Licence (preferred)
- Relevant trade-related qualifications or certificates (preferred)
- Previous experience in manufacturing, construction, or engineering (preferred)
