We are seeking Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and experienced Support Workers to join a home-care team supporting an elderly gentleman in Glenelg North.

Multiple positions are available, with duties allocated according to each employee’s qualifications, experience and scope of practice.

About the Client

The client requires support with mobility, personal care and communication. He has speech, hearing and vision impairments, is unsteady when standing or walking, and requires nasogastric tube (NGT) feeding.

Alongside his physical care, conversation and opportunities to stay socially engaged are an significant part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

All Roles

- Provide full assistance with personal care, including toileting, continence care, showering and dressing.

- Assist with mobility and transfers.

- Assist with feeding, food and drinks where safe and appropriate, including preparing modified meals and thickened fluids.

- Check and record vital signs.

- Encourage and assist with exercises prescribed by the physiotherapist.

- Assist with speech and breathing exercises.





- Provide companionship and encourage social activities and conversation.

- Take the client on outings in his car.

Registered and Enrolled Nurses

- Provide diabetes management

- Provide wound management

Registered Nurses

- Provide clinical leadership and on-call support to the care team.

- Coordinate doctor and specialist appointments and follow-up care.

- Assist with recruiting and training new staff.

- Assist with rostering and timesheets.

- Create and review care plans and duty lists.

- Manage medications, including administration via NGT.

- Complete post-fall assessments, neurological observations and follow-up care.

About You

You will:

- Be caring and patient, with a warm manner and positive attitude.

- Show genuine care and respect for older people.

- Communicate effectively with the client, family and care team.

- Be reliable and willing to adapt to the client’s changing needs.

- Prioritise the client’s safety, dignity and wellbeing.

Two to three years' experience in aged care, disability support, nursing or a similar field is preferred. Australian and overseas experience will be considered.

Qualifications and Requirements

Registered Nurses

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse

Enrolled Nurses

- Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse

Support Workers and Carers

Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability or a related field

All Applicants

- Current National Police Clearance issued within the past 12 months

- Current CPR and manual handling certificates

- Medication competency where relevant

- Evidence of required COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations

- Australian working rights

- Willingness to complete an employer-funded pre-employment medical assessment
