About the Role:

As a Family and Domestic Violence Refuge Advocate, you will provide trauma-informed, client-centred support to victim-survivors of family and domestic violence. Working within a skilled and supportive team, you will assist clients to improve safety, strengthen wellbeing, build resilience and break cycles of violence.

You will provide risk assessment, safety planning, psychoeducation,



advocacy and case management while ensuring all services are delivered in accordance with best practice and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities as a Family and Domestic Violence Refuge Advocate, you will:

Provide timely, trauma-informed support to victim-survivors of family and domestic violence.

Conduct risk assessments, safety planning and crisis intervention to support client safety and wellbeing.

Deliver case management, advocacy and psychoeducation that empowers clients to build skills, resilience and pathways to recovery.

Maintain accurate case notes, service documentation and reporting requirements.

Work collaboratively with colleagues and external agencies to ensure coordinated and effective support for clients.

Participate in clinical supervision, professional development, team meetings and service improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

Essential compliance documents

• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Current Working with Children Check.
• Australian Federal Police Clearance obtained within the last 6 months.
• Current C Class Driver's Licence.
• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

Skills and Experience

• Experience supporting individuals impacted by family and domestic violence, mental health concerns or other complex social issues.

• Sound knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning and trauma-informed practice.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Strong organisational, documentation and case management skills.

• Understanding of privacy, confidentiality and professional boundaries.

• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice.

• Ability to work in culturally safe and inclusive ways with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and LGBTIQA+ individuals.
