The Opportunity
As our business continues to grow organically, we are seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join our Orchards Team as Farm Hands. This is an excellent chance to contribute to a large-scale horticultural operation while building your skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
About the role:
Farm Hands carry out the day-to-day operations and duties involved in running a large-scale orchard and supporting the teams directed by the Farm Manager(s).
The Role – Farm Hand (Horticulture Award)
This casual position is covered by the Horticulture Award and offers stable, full-time hours with seasonal overtime opportunities.
As a Farm Hand working in Shepparton (Ardmona), you will be responsible for a broad range of orchard duties across both harvest and non-harvest periods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake general orchard duties including spraying, weeding, slashing, pruning, mulching, thinning, irrigation, tree training, cleaning and fruit harvest
- Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery and other farm equipment safely and effectively
- Mix and apply chemicals including pesticides,
herbicides and fertilisers in accordance with safety and compliance requirements
- Inspect equipment, structures and materials to identify faults, defects or maintenance needs and report issues promptly to management
- Maintain high standards of orchard presentation, crop quality and safety compliance
Demonstrated experience operating farm machinery and equipment is essential.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar agricultural or orchard role
- Possess practical knowledge of farm operations and crop management
- Be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic
- Show initiative, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
- Maintain a proactive and positive attitude toward Work Health & Safety
- Hold a current, unrestricted driver’s licence (essential)
Highly Regarded:
- Forklift licence
- ChemCert (or equivalent chemical handling certification)
- First Aid Certificate
- Chainsaw training and experience
Hours of Work
Monday to Saturday– 4:00am to 6:00pm
Overtime may be required during peak periods in line with operational needs.
