About the Opportunity
Join the team in Wombat Ward at North West Regional Hospital and help deliver exceptional care to children and young people across Tasmania's North West.
Wombat Ward is a 16-bed Level 3 paediatric inpatient unit caring for patients aged 0-17 years across:
- General Paediatrics
- Surgery
- Orthopaedics
- Mental Health
Working alongside experienced nurses, medical staff and allied health professionals, you'll be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and their families.
What You'll Do
- Deliver high-quality, family-centred paediatric nursing care.
- Support children and families throughout their healthcare journey.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive patient outcomes.
- Maintain clinical documentation and patient records.
- Contribute to quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
- Support and mentor students and junior staff.

What We're Looking For
We're seeking a compassionate and capable Registered Nurse who is committed to delivering safe, high-quality care to children,
young people and their families.
You will have:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
- Current knowledge of nursing principles, procedures and practices, and the ability to apply them in line with relevant legislation and the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice.
- Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safe, patient-centred care.
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Flexibility to work across a fully rotational roster and support service delivery as required.
- Working with Children Check/Registration
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Paediatric Nursing.

Details of Appointment
Multiple permanent full-time and part time positions available.
Shift worker (fully rotational), commencing as soon as possible.
Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time, part-time and casual vacancies.
Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (pro rata), plus 12% employer superannuation.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range ($99,455 to $105,995) is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4.
Eligibility
Successful applicants will be required to meet the following essential requirements:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
