Sugar Terminals Limited (STL) owns and operates six bulk commodity terminals along the Queensland coast, from Cairns to Bundaberg, playing a vital role in getting the majority of Australia's raw sugar to global markets. Our terminals provide large-scale storage and handling capacity for raw sugar and other bulk commodities, supporting growers, millers and exporters across regional Queensland.
We’re looking for a licensed Electrical Fitter Mechanic to join our team at the Lucinda Bulk Sugar Terminal, providing electrical installation, fault-finding and maintenance expertise across our bulk handling and associated facilities — keeping our operations safe, reliable and efficient.
About the role
Reporting to the Terminal Supervisor, you'll be a hands-on trade specialist working across our site-based environments, with strong working relationships across Work Management Planning & Scheduling, Administration, Store, Asset Management and Asset Services teams. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor apprentices and help build technical capability within the team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing electrical installation, fault-finding and maintenance expertise across bulk handling equipment and facilities
- Inspecting, testing, reporting and maintaining electrical installations in line with statutory requirements and the site maintenance plan
- Assisting with planning and scheduling of maintenance work
- Supporting shipping activities, including regular and irregular shiftwork
- Providing broader operational assistance,
including operation of mobile and stationary equipment as required
- Mentoring apprentices and supporting safe application of technical training
- Complying with electrical control systems procedures to uphold product integrity, quality control, weighing and sampling standards
- Working within computer-based maintenance systems (CMMS), including work management via iPad technology
What you'll bring
- At least 3 years' experience in a bulk materials or related industrial environment
- Demonstrated experience developing, installing and maintaining electrical equipment and software in an industrial workplace
- A current Queensland Electrical Fitter Mechanic Licence
- Working knowledge of the Queensland Electricity Act 2002
- A current "C" Class Queensland Driver's Licence
- Solid computer literacy, including familiarity with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- A solid understanding of workplace safety principles
- Proven ability to work well as part of a team, with effective written and verbal communication skills
The following will make your application stand out:
- A Queensland Electrical Contractor's Licence
- Open Cabler Registration (formerly Austel Licence)
- Knowledge of PLC systems,
with hands-on experience in Concept and Citect programming and fault-finding
- Certification to operate mobile equipment such as front-end loaders, EWPs and forklifts
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Current Senior First Aid & CPR accreditation
- Experience with high voltage switching, variable frequency drives, and wound rotor electric motors up to 250kW
- Previous experience maintaining bulk materials handling facilities
