A geotechnical consultancy servicing residential construction across Victoria is looking for a Registered Professional Engineer (Victoria) to review and sign off our reports on a casual basis.
The work
We carry out the field work, logging and draft reporting in-house. Your role is to review the data, form the engineering opinion, and sign the report.
We're after genuine technical oversight — not a signature at the end. You'd have full access to borehole logs and field records, and we'd expect you to send work back where anything is unclear or insufficient.
Reports are residential site classifications to AS2870, plus footing and bored pier inspection reports.
Hours and rate
Fully remote, work at times that suit you — no site attendance
Flexible schedule, typically 3–10 hours per week
$120–200 per hour depending on experience, inclusive of casual loading, plus superannuation
You're covered
You'd be engaged as a casual employee,
which means your work is covered under the practice's Qualified Indemnity insurance. You don't need to hold your own policy.
Essential
Registered Professional Engineer of Victoria (RPEV) — civil — with Building Industry Endorsement
Demonstrated experience in residential site classification to AS2870
Sound understanding of reactive soils, fill, and footing and foundation assessment
Comfortable taking qualified responsibility for reports prepared by others under your review
Also worth applying if
You hold RPEQ or interstate registration and are open to obtaining RPEV via mutual recognition
You're semi-retired, reducing your hours, or want supplementary work alongside an existing role
You're Chartered (CPEng) or NER listed
