About the Role
Our client is a VIC government organisation based in Broadmeadows VIC. They are currently seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to come in and work with them on a temp contract prospect until 26th February 2027.
Requirements for this role include:
Proven experience with CHRIS21 payroll system
Previous local or state government experience
Ability to providing advice on complex payroll processes
A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of all functions and procedures that are performed within the Payroll team.
Key responsibilities will include:
Payroll Processing & Reconciliation: Execute fortnightly pay runs, manage timesheet data entry and Chris21 file imports, and balance pay run reconciliations to resolve discrepancies.
Leadership & Work Allocation: Assign daily task priorities, lead complex payroll operations, and deliver ongoing training, support, and guidance to the payroll team.
Employee Lifecycle & Master File Maintenance: Manage onboarding setup, master file updates, and termination processing to ensure accurate employee personal, salary, and deduction records.
Superannuation Administration:
Set up "Choice of Funds" options and manage ongoing superannuation contributions and personal deduction changes.
Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain electronic personnel files (via Content Manager/TRIM) to securely document salary rates, leave, deductions, and payroll records.
Customer Service & HR Collaboration: Resolve complex payroll inquiries with empathy and explicit communication while partnering with the HR Generalist team to ensure timely task completion.
