Job Description

Horse Trainer - First Light Racing Location: Sydney, NSW About the Role - First Light Racing is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Horse Trainer to join our team on a full-time basis.

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting and overseeing the training, preparation and management of thoroughbred racehorses, ensuring each horse receives a high standard of care and is prepared appropriately for training and racing. Key Responsibilities - The role will include: Overseeing the daily training and preparation of thoroughbred racehorses.

Assessing horses during trackwork and monitoring their fitness, performance and development. Assisting with the development and implementation of individual training programs. Monitoring the health, condition and general wellbeing of horses.

Identifying and reporting any signs of injury, illness or changes in behaviour. Liaising with trainers, stable staff, veterinarians, farriers, owners and other equine professionals. Assisting with race and trial preparation.

Attending trackwork, trials and race meetings as required. Maintaining accurate records relating to horses' training,



performance and wellbeing and communicating these. Ensuring high standards of horse welfare and reliable management are maintained at all times.

Skills & Experience - The successful applicant will have: Demonstrated professional experience working with and training thoroughbred racehorses. Bachelor Honours Degree desirable

Robust knowledge of thoroughbred training, conditioning, horse welfare and race preparation. The ability to assess horses' fitness, locomotion, behaviour and performance. Experience working in a professional racing secure or comparable thoroughbred environment.

Strong communication and organisational skills. The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. A high level of reliability and attention to detail.

The ability and willingness to work early mornings, weekends and race days as required. Relevant qualifications in horse training, racing or equine management are desirable.
