Tarneit Trading Pty Ltd operates Tarneit Asian Supermarket, providing a broad range of grocery, household and specialty retail products to the local community. To support our ongoing merchandise planning, supplier management and purchasing requirements, we are seeking an experienced Retail Buyer to join our team.

The Retail Buyer will be responsible for selecting and purchasing goods for resale through the supermarket. The position will manage the end-to-end retail purchasing process, including demand analysis, product selection, supplier evaluation, commercial negotiation, purchase planning and category performance monitoring.

This is a procurement-focused position working primarily within the business’s back-office and operational areas. The role is separate from routine cashier, customer service, shelf-stacking and day-to-day store management functions.

Key Responsibilities
Analyse sales, inventory and product performance to identify purchasing needs.
Source and select grocery, household and specialty products.




Build and maintain relationships with local and overseas suppliers.
Obtain quotations and negotiation pricing, terms and promotional support.
Prepare and monitor purchase orders and stock requirements.
Monitor supplier performance, product quality and deliveries.
Analyse stock turnover, margins and slow-moving products.

Skills & Experience
Certificate IV or higher in Business, Retail, Procurement, Supply Chain or a related field, or relevant industry experience.
Minimum 12 months experience in retail buying, purchasing and procurement.
Experience in product sourcing and supplier negotiation.
Robust numerical, analytical, communication and organisational skills.
Asian supermarket / grocery retail experience highly regarded.
Multilingual communication skills will be highly regarded, particularly, Mandarin, Malay or other Asian languages.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $88,000.00 per year
