ABURI is a recent Japanese rice bowl restaurant opening in Hawthorn East, specialising in hot aburi-style Japanese rice bowls, takeaway and casual dining.

We are looking for an experienced Chef / Cook to join our opening team and help run our hot food and rice bowl station.

This role is suitable for someone with solid kitchen experience who can work quickly, follow recipes and keep food quality consistent during busy service.

ABURI is not a fine dining restaurant. We are a fast-casual rice bowl restaurant focused on speed, consistency, portion control, clean preparation and smooth service flow.

Key duties include:
Preparing ingredients before service
Cooking and reheating proteins according to ABURI recipes and SOPs
Managing the hot food / cooking station during service - Assembling Japanese rice bowls with correct portioning and presentation
Following sauce, topping and portion guides accurately
Supporting aburi-style finishing and final food quality checks
Working closely with the owner, store manager and front-of-house team during service
Keeping the kitchen clean,



organised and food-protected
Restocking ingredients during service
Packing takeaway and delivery orders when required
Washing dishes and supporting general kitchen duties when needed
Following food safety, hygiene and workplace procedures

We are looking for someone who is:
Experienced in a professional kitchen
Rapid, clean and organised during service
Able to follow recipes, SOPs and station systems
Reliable, punctual and responsible
Comfortable with repetitive food preparation and portion control
Able to work under pressure during lunch rush
Willing to work as part of a small team
Comfortable helping with prep, cooking, packing and cleaning
Open to learning the ABURI system instead of changing the menu
Has valid working rights in Australia
