Location: Morwell, VIC, Australia, ****Contract: Fixed Term - Full time (Dec ****)Salary: $105,570 - $110,350 plus superannuation and salary packageThe OrganisationThe Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia.
The VACCA team is committed to the organisation's visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.Our strength lies with our people.About The RoleTutor will provide Education supports to Aboriginal children and young people in care by utilising a culturally informed and trauma-informed approach and ensure to best support young people to reengage with, attend and thrive in their chosen education setting and address gaps in learning with a focus on literacy and numeracy development.They will be responsible for providing one‐on‐one educational assistance and tutoring, advising schools on individual learning needs, and supporting Individual Education Plan, Cultural Support ensures a culturally safe environment and offers additional support to foster learning.About YouCommitment to, the values that underpin VACCA' vision and purposeA qualified teacher, with a minimum of 2 years classroom experience with children in primary and/or secondary schooling setting.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement individualised educational plans.Ability to tailor and develop worksheets, workplans and utilisation of educational resources to respond to learning needsExperience engaging with education stakeholders and school support, collaborating to achieve individual student goals and improve literacy and numeracyExperience working with young people or children exhibiting challenging behaviours,
or school disengagementStrong understanding of the education support systems available to young people living in residential care settings and an understanding of strengths-based, trauma informed and therapeutic practiceAbility to advocate for service intervention and client supportsRequirements: Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
