About the Role
We are currently seeking aMechanical Commissioning Managerto oversee the end-to-end commissioning of critical mechanical systems for a major data centre project in Melbourne.
This position is instrumental in delivering high-performance HVAC, chilled water, and fluid distribution systems that meet the stringent reliability, efficiency, and safety standards of hyperscale infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning and execution of mechanical commissioning across HVAC, chilled water, and fluid distribution systems.
Review mechanical design and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure system compatibility and optimal performance.
Develop and approve test scripts for mechanical equipment,
ensuring alignment with local and international engineering standards.
Manage commissioning consultants (CxAs) and interface with vendors during equipment FATs/FWTs and installation.
Conduct QA/QC inspections and troubleshoot any performance issues during system integration and commissioning.
Ensure commissioning documentation is thorough and compliant with project and regulatory requirements.
Liaise with the operations team to ensure smooth handover and system readiness for live operations.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical commissioning, ideally within data centre or other mission-critical environments.
In-depth understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and complex mechanical system behaviour.
Familiarity with Australian Standards, industry codes, and sustainable building practices (Green Star, LEED).
Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions across multidisciplinary teams.
