Position: Senior School Humanities Teacher (Years 9-12)

Status:0.8 FTE to Full Time – Permanent Contract

Line Management: This position will be responsible to the Head of Senior School through the Humanities Faculty Leader, and ultimately to the Principal
n
Burgmann Anglican School is an Early Childhood to Year 12 School with campuses located at Gungahlin and Forde.

The school has a strong link with the Gungahlin Anglican Church which shares facilities and resources with the school.

Duties
n
n
Use a range of teaching strategies to deliver quality programs that are inclusive of all students and are responsive to their learning strengths and needs
n
Ability to teach Sociology, Economics, Legal Studies and Business Studies. Ability to teach Religious Studies would be advantageous
n
Establish a rapport with students to create inclusive, supportive learning environments
n
Work collaboratively with colleagues
n
Communicate with colleagues, students and parents in a respectful, effective and professional way
n
Actively participate in the school's co-curricular program, providing appropriate duty of care and supervision which may include a weekend commitment
n




Participate in the pastoral care program and if required, lead a Pastoral Care class
n
Actively participate in professional learning activities aligned with the school's priorities
n
Actively support the Christian ethos of an Anglican School
n
Other duties as required

Pastoral Care
n
n
Take responsibility for a Pastoral Care class, including:
n
Developing positive relationships with students
n
Monitoring uniform, appearance and student behaviour
n
Teach the Pastoral Care program
n
Liaise with parents regarding academic and pastoral progress of students
n
Undertake administrative tasks required
n
n
Selection Criteria
n
n
A relevant teaching qualification and experience teaching to Senior School students
n
A passion for effective teaching and learning
n
An understanding of positive education theory and practices
n
An interest in working with adolescents
n
The ability to differentiate the teaching program to address students' learning styles and diverse academic needs
n
A willingness to participate in curriculum development and professional development
n
Expertise or interest in the emotional, social and physical development of adolescents
n
Experience in the meaningful integration of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) into the curriculum
n
n
