Job Description
Play apivotal role in shaping OceanaGold's future growth by identifying, evaluating, and advancing high-potential greenfields exploration opportunities.
This strategic role combines technical expertise, commercial awareness, and industry influence to help build asustainable pipeline of discovery opportunities across our globalportfolio.
As akey member of the Exploration group, you will leverage your understanding of mineral systems, geological terranes, and exploration trends to uncover and secure opportunities that align with OceanaGold's growth strategy.
Success in this role will be driven by your ability to build strong relationships across the industry, influence stakeholders, and translate geological insights into businessvalue.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Developasustainable Greenfields exploration portfolio by identifying, pursuing, and securing external exploration opportunities aligned with OceanaGold's growth strategy.Builds and maintains amonitoring tool for tracking high potential greenfields opportunities and acts at the appropriate time to capture such opportunities.
Conductdue diligence on projects of interest and supports the M&Afunction;
Providekey geological expertise and exploration guidance across the Company's operations, aligning with the OGC's wider vision and strategy for Exploration across the business.This is achieved through commissioning terrane evaluations, then creating actionable insights arising from such evaluations
Maintainastrong sector network that facilitates the identification of gold/gold-copper opportunities.
RepresentOGC's interests in potential Joint Ventures as amember of JV Technical Committees, ensuring the exploration team conducts geoscientific investigation to the highest standards and that are fit-for-purpose, driving Joint Venture program direction, keeping abreast of project activity and progress, and reportingactivities.
Providestrategic and technical expertise and advice as required on matters relevant to the management of OGC's global exploration program.
Keepabreast of and disseminating relevant geoscience and technologic advances to maintain competitor advantage and technical excellence across theGroup
Providetechnical leadership to site exploration and geology professionals, championing the use of governance tools (Portfolio Management, Work Program Approvals, QA/QC Standards, Performance Boards, etc) across greenfields exploration and provides support and guidance as to their effective use with siteteams.
Developthe annual greenfields plan and budget and ensures that this is executed asapproved.
Buildand maintains effective communication and engagement skills to work at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
Degree qualified in Geology, Earth Sciences,
or arelated discipline.
20 + years experience in greenfields explorationand extensive exposure to mine geology, ideally across arange of geological environments and deposittypes.
Deep understanding of mineral systems, exploration strategy, and project evaluation across multiple geologicalsettings.
Experience conducting technical and commercial due diligence, supporting growth initiatives, and managing joint venture relationships.
Strong commercial acumen, analytical capability, and ability to translate geological insights into businessvalue.
Proven ability to influence stakeholders, lead technical programs, and deliver results in complex environments.
International experience and asound understanding of jurisdictional risks and opportunities.
Passionate about exploration, discovery, and creating long-termvalue.
Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Collaborative and influential, with the ability to build relationships across alllevels.
Results-focused, accountable, and driven to deliver on commitments.
