The Finance team is responsible for the integrity of the financial information of the business and the custodian of shareholder value.
This includes accounting, all facets of financial reporting, Non-life and Life actuarial reporting, expense management and processing, capital management, investment accounting and tax accounting.
The division is a shared service function and it services all entities in Australia and Current Zealand.
The Life Actuarial Risk Management (LARM) team deliver relevant and reliable information on financial reporting, analysis, risk, capital and value to stakeholders.
In the life insurance reporting system, IFRS, VNB and local statutory valuations are considered especially complicated.
It is LARM's responsibility to perform and investigate these complex calculations.
Your Role
Deliver all aspects of MRA's valuation reporting and analysis requirements, including: analysis of quarterly results for internal management, MR Group reporting, MRA Board reporting, Annual Valuation Reports, MRA Financial Statements and business planning forecasts.
Develop and present management information insights from valuation systems
Investigate appropriate reserving techniques including preparation, modelling and analysis of MRA's reserves and policy liabilities
Maintain, develop, test and document reserving models, including AASB17, IFRS17, and Solvency II
Review applicable components of the Terms of Trade (TOT) to confirm that they are appropriate for use in valuation
Manage model and assumption change process and present valuation TOT and change analysis to internal stakeholders and MR Group actuarial oversight team.
Investigate appropriate treaty re-pricing insights from existing valuation systems
Partner with the Head of Valuation and the Chief and Appointed Actuary to deliver strategic business and finance initiatives.
Provide technical review and guidance to LARM team members producing Local and Group valuation reporting and analysis.
Assist Munich Re colleagues overseas and MRA's auditor queries to promote openness and transparency.
Strengthen controls and drive operational efficiencies by leveraging AI and large language models to enhance LARM's capacity and effectiveness
Assist with special projects and other LARM activities, as required
Contribute to developing and championing risk management process within LARM team
Promote the values of the LARM team, being collaborative, pragmatic, and trusted.
Your Profile
Qualified Actuary with 5+ years of post-qualification experience in a Life (re)insurance pricing or reserving environment
Experience with AXIS, SQL,VBA, AI and LLM
Experience in life prudential regime in Australia and internationally including IFRS17, AASB17, and Solvency II
Strong technical report writing skills.
Production of comprehensive, commercial reports and documentation, including considered opinion and justification of data and content
Ability to identify, investigate and present insights to senior management.
