About the Role
n
We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer (Project to Senior level) to join our team.
n
In this role, you will apply geomechanics and ground engineering expertise to deliver technical solutions across a range of projects. You will undertake geotechnical analysis, numerical modelling, and problem-solving activities, while contributing to project delivery and the development of practical, data-driven engineering outcomes.
n
Depending on your level of experience, you will work with increasing autonomy and contribute to client engagement activities while continuing to grow your technical and consulting capabilities.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Business Development
n
n
Contribute to business development activities through client engagement and support of proposal preparation and opportunity pursuits.
n
Assist with the preparation of proposals, capability statements,
and technical inputs in collaboration with local and global teams.
n
Contribute market and project insights to support new business opportunities.
n
Represent ITASCA at industry events, conferences, and technical forums.
n
As required, contribute to technical papers, webinars, and industry presentations.
n
n
Project Delivery & Management
n
n
Deliver geotechnical engineering projects, ensuring high-quality outcomes and strong client satisfaction.
n
Contribute to project planning, scope definition, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
n
Undertake geotechnical analysis, numerical modelling, and design assessments.
n
Support project performance through effective scheduling, budget awareness, and delivery management.
n
Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to define requirements and communicate progress.
n
Participate in site work as required (including domestic and occasional international travel).
n
n
Technical Expertise & Leadership
n
n
Apply sound to advanced expertise in geomechanics and rock mechanics to solve engineering challenges.
n
Prepare high-quality technical reports and deliverables.
n
Contribute to technical reviews and quality assurance processes.
n
Support the development and continuous improvement of technical methods and workflows.
n
Support a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and practical problem solving.
n
Contribute to the development and improvement of analytical methods, tools, and workflows.
n
Use ITASCA's software, including testing, feedback, and collaboration with developers.
n
Participate in internal knowledge sharing, workshops, and technical discussions.
n

Qualifications and Requirements
n
Experience and Industry knowledge
n
n
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Master's degree is preferred.
n
4+ years' experience in consulting, mining, civil, or related industries, preferably within the Australian market.
n
Experience in geomechanics and numerical modelling.
n
Professional registration or eligibility to obtain registration
n
Understanding of relevant regulatory, commercial and industry environments.
n

Technical and professional capability
n
n
Ability to undertake and deliver numerical modelling studies within consulting project timeframes.
n
Sound understanding of modelling approaches, limitations, and practical application.
n
Demonstrated problem-solving capability in engineering environments.
n
Experience contributing to the delivery of technical projects and multidisciplinary teams.
