The Role
Newkey Consulting is partnering with a leading principal contractor delivering a major utilities infrastructure upgrade on the Central Coast, NSW. We are seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join the project team and play a key role in the successful delivery of meaningful infrastructure upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Engineer will oversee Electrical subcontractor activities across multiple project work fronts, ensuring delivery is aligned with project drawings, timeframes, budget and quality standards. You will oversee day-to-day EIC activities, drive project progress and resolve technical issues to ensure safe, efficient and successful project delivery. You will:
Participate in EIC design reviews and cross-discipline workshops.
Undertake EIC procurement, supply chain and subcontractor administration.
Coordinate electrical works, interfaces and underground services across civil and mechanical work fronts.
Provide technical advice across electrical design, procurement and project delivery.
Attend FATs for major electrical equipment and prepare detailed reports.
Inspect incoming HV/LV equipment for compliance, condition and readiness for handover.
About You
You are a motivated engineering professional looking to contribute to a major infrastructure project and develop your career within a supportive and high-performing team.
You will bring:
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Robust organisational skills and attention to detail
Strong experience with HV/LV equipment installation and underground cable reticulation.
Sound knowledge of LOTO, interlocking, switching and electrical system operations.
Experience managing temporary electrical supplies, including diesel generation.
Strong understanding of electrical earthing systems.
Working knowledge of FDS and programs and PLC/SCADA codes.
Availability for occasional local and interstate travel to support project delivery.
Key Skills:
Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 2 - 4 years site engineering experience, with a focus on contractor management, planning, project controls and project delivery.
Highly regarded:
Experience working on water or wastewater infrastructure works
