The Myer team are looking for a Senior Merchandise Planner (known in the organisation as a Senior Planner) to join the Homewares team.
This key leadership role partners closely with the Buying team to develop and execute a profitable, customer-focused merchandise strategy while driving sales, inventory optimisation, and business performance across the category.
Key leadership role within the team An exciting opportunity to further develop your career within the Planning stream Hybrid working model, partly working remotely as well as our Support Office About the role: Lead the planning and trading of key categories within Homewares, implementing commercial strategies and tactical initiatives to achieve sales, profit, and inventory objectives.
Partner with Buying, Leadership, and Executive teams to develop and execute the overall category strategy.
Prepare, coordinate, and present Monthly Merchandise Reviews (MMR) and financial forecasts to senior stakeholders and executive leadership.
Deliver accurate forecasts across key financial metrics, proactively identifying risks and opportunities based on sales performance, customer trends, marketing activity, and product performance.
Analyse market conditions, customer behaviours, emerging trends, and competitor activity to inform strategic decision-making.
Conduct detailed in-season and post-season analysis, including supplier performance, stock health, inventory productivity, and business reporting.
Collaborate closely with Buyers to develop compelling customer assortments that deliver strong commercial outcomes across sales, gross profit, and productivity measures.
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing planning team through mentoring, succession planning, regular feedback, and capability-building initiatives.
About you: Extensive experience as a Merchandise Planner, including leadership experience within a retail environment.
Strong commercial, financial, and analytical capability, with a proven ability to translate insights into business outcomes.
Demonstrated experience influencing and engaging stakeholders at senior and executive levels.
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop medium-sized teams.
Experience using merchandise planning and forecasting systems is highly desirable.
A degree or diploma in Merchandise Management, Commerce, Marketing, Retail Management, Business, Economics, or a related discipline is advantageous but not essential.
Strong understanding of retail operations, financial drivers, customer trends, and merchandise planning principles.
