About the Role
We are recruiting for the role of Manager Small Projects Procurement to support the Copper South Australia (SA) Small Projects portfolio. The location for this role is Adelaide, and relocation support will be provided to the successful candidate if required.
The Manager Small Projects Procurement will lead a team focused on the development of contract strategies, tendering and award of contracts, planning, administration and management of contracts, negotiation and settlement of claims, and close out of contracts. You will translate strategy into operational plans for the department.
In this role you will:
Provide leadership, direction, functional expertise, mentoring, coaching and guidance to the team
Manage multiple stakeholder relationships across Procurement, Project Functions, and our contractors
Enable world class contract formation and management performance
Apply an understanding of end-to-end Supply Chain to enhance efficiency, drive optimisation, and maximise value
Evaluate risk profiles, project drivers, and contracting options to inform the development of contracting strategies aligned with project execution strategies
Manage contract execution and analysis to maximise operational and financial performance, and mitigate exposure and risk
Develop protected project delivery and contractor performance strategies to maximise portfolio value and enhance improvement and innovation
Gain support for and negotiate outcomes that achieve mutually beneficial goals
Identify and assess risks, make risk-informed decisions, and build a risk-aware culture using BHP's risk management framework
Mitigate people, community, human rights, environmental and climate risks across the value chain, in alignment with our sustainability commitments
Make evidence-based and strategic decisions in alignment with longer-term business objectives
Strive to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste
About You
Extensive experience in commercial and contract management roles in capital projects
A track record of excellence in contract negotiation and people leadership
Tertiary qualifications in Management, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Legal (Construction Law) or related discipline
Strong business acumen with deep understanding of project execution, risks and strategies
Experience in strategic thinking, robust planning and risk management
Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to tailor interactions to a wide variety of stakeholder groups
Experience managing a project portfolio of spend and interfaces
Negotiations and deal design skills
Claims prevention and management experience
Experience managing and supervising a team of professionals
Ability to operate in complex and ambiguous environments
