Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis role focuses on support our client's tailings and mine waste management and operational teams to ensure their facilities are protected.
Compliance to the latest standards (which are evolving) is critical for mining companies to demonstrate their commitment to ESG and for the Social License to Operate.




This role forms part of our team to provide the technical and operation support for Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and Water Storage Facilities (WSF).
As a Tailings / Geotechnical Engineer, this role requires the application of the tasks listed below (geotechnical engineer), but also an expanding knowledge of all elements and disciplines required to design these facilities, such as hydrogeology, process, geochemistry, water, civil engineering and social engagement.Some of the key responsibilitiesmay include:Civil/Geotechnical/Tailings dam design;Geotechnical analyses using various software packages;Oversee and co-ordinate geotechnical field investigation programsOversee and co-ordinate geotechnical laboratory testing programsWork closely with Engineers-of-Record (EoR) on long-term operational projectsWrite technical reports, proposals, and papersDevelop geotechnical assessments and analysis capabilitiesBuild and maintain strong relationships with clientsEducation and LicensureDegree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (required)Be eligible for membership of Engineers Australia and either have or be working towards CPENG status (required)Skills, Experience and Qualifications1-5+ years of consulting experience operating within a geotechnical practice groupExperience with using geotechnical logging software (Tablogs, Holebase, etc)Competent in the use of GIS or CAD package/sWorking knowledge of geotechnical investigation standards and practicesStrong understanding of Health and Safety planning, processes and proceduresPast experience with geotechnical investigations at mine sitesExperience with geotechnical interpretation (i.e. CPiET) and analysis (i.e. Slope/W).
Familiarity with dam safety guidelines including ANCOLD, GISTM, CDA and WA-DMRCivil or tailings engineering generalExperience in the GIS, CAD or Tailings Modelling software (i.e. QGIS, 12d, AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Muk3D)
