Role Purpose
The Merchandise Operations Manager leads Tasmania Football Club's retail, merchandise and membership fulfilment operations, delivering a commercially robust and consistent experience for fans across the Devils Den, match-days, events and membership fulfilment.
Reporting to the Head of Consumer, you'll be accountable for the performance of the Club's retail channels, leadership of the retail workforce, management of key merchandise and fulfilment partners, and delivery across inventory, budgets and program planning, ensuring every retail and fulfilment touchpoint reflects the Club's brand and delivers an exceptional fan experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
Retail Operations
Own the retail strategy and annual operating plan, including seasonal range planning, budgets and alignment with the Club's fixture, membership and events calendar
Lead retail performance and commercial outcomes, monitoring sales, revenue, service and labour, and reporting to the Head of Consumer
Oversee day-to-day retail operations and standards across Club-operated retail environments, POS, systems and customer experience
Own retail inventory, stock control and financial management, including receiving, counts, reconciliation and shrinkage
Match-Day, Events & Partner Management
Lead the planning and delivery of retail across match-days, Club events and pop-up activations, working with the Store Coordinator, Events and Venue Operations teams
Forecast demand using attendance, fixture and sales data to ensure retail locations are appropriately stocked, staffed and presented
Own the Club's key retail, merchandise, apparel and fulfilment partnerships, managing performance, KPIs and contractual obligations through a regular trading rhythm
Consumer Product Strategy
Own the Club's consumer product strategy and roadmap, ensuring merchandise, membership products and on-field apparel are coordinated and aligned to the broader Consumer strategy
Use customer, retail and commercial insights to shape the product range and inform category, quantity and allocation decisions
Coordinate product launches and marketing activity, working with Membership, Marketing and Brand to integrate campaigns across physical retail and ecommerce
Membership Fulfilment Operations
Own the end-to-end membership fulfilment program, including annual planning, product ordering, budgets, timelines and design approvals
Manage the fulfilment partner and in-season operations, including WIP and KPI management, replacement orders and issue resolution
Partner with Membership and Ticketing to resolve fulfilment issues and continuously improve the member experience
Team Leadership & Workforce Management
Lead, coach and develop the retail team, including the Retail Operations Lead,
setting clear performance and customer service expectations
Own retail workforce planning, including staffing levels, labour budgets, casual recruitment and deployment across day-to-day, match-day and peak trading periods
Build effective relationships across Consumer, Membership, Ticketing, Marketing, Brand, Football, Events and Finance
What you'll bring
Proven experience leading retail operations in a fast-paced, high-profile or customer-focused environment, including stores, events or multi-location retail
Strong commercial and merchandise acumen, with the ability to analyse sales, inventory and customer data to inform decisions
Demonstrated people leadership experience, with the ability to coach and develop managers and frontline teams
Experience managing external partners and commercial relationships, including contracts, KPIs and service-level arrangements
Highly organised and self-directed, with strong decision-making skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
Experience with CRM and customer service platforms such as Salesforce and Zendesk is desirable
Experience in sport, entertainment, fashion, apparel, licensed merchandise or membership organisations is advantageous
