The Role

We're looking for an experienced and solutions-focused OSI Engineer / Scientist - Water to join our Operational Support and Improvement team on a permanent full-time basis.

Reporting to the Manager Operational Support - Water, this role plays a key part in improving the performance, reliability and compliance of Tas Water's drinking water treatment systems and water networks. Working closely with operational teams across the state, you'll apply your technical expertise to optimise treatment processes, investigate operational challenges, improve compliance outcomes, and deliver innovative solutions that support safe and reliable drinking water services for Tasmania.

Whether your background is in process engineering, environmental science, chemistry, water treatment or a related discipline, you'll have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on one of Tasmania's most critical services.
In this role, you will:

Provide technical leadership and expert advice on drinking water quality, treatment compliance and operational performance.



Analyse and optimise water treatment systems and networks to improve reliability, quality, risk and cost outcomes. Identify, assess and implement process and system improvements across water treatment assets. Lead investigations into operational and process performance issues and recommend practical solutions. Support trials, implementation and evaluation of new technologies and optimisation initiatives. Develop technical reports, recommendations and business cases to support decision-making. Coach and support operational teams through technical guidance and knowledge sharing. Work closely with Operations and project teams to improve treatment performance and compliance outcomes.

What we’re looking for

We're seeking a collaborative and analytical professional with a passion for water quality, process optimisation and continuous improvement.
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
A degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Process Engineering or a related discipline. Experience investigating and solving complex technical, operational or process-related challenges. Experience analysing operational or treatment system performance and identifying improvement opportunities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and draw evidence-based conclusions. Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills. Experience supporting, coaching or mentoring others. Strong computer skills, including experience with operational, process or data systems.A current Class C Driver's Licence. Highly regarded:
Experience in drinking water treatment, water quality, process engineering or water operations. Experience using SCADA, AVEVA PI,



Bio Win or similar operational and modelling platforms.CPEng, RPEng or relevant professional accreditation. Experience within the water and wastewater industry.

The Details

This role will be based in Launcestonand attracts a salary of $106,708.64- $120,247.46 per annum (inclusive of superannuation).
The role will involve travel across Tasmania to support operational sites and may require participation in after-hours work or an on-call roster as business requirements dictate.
