Health Workforce Queensland is a not for profit, non-Government Rural Workforce Agency dedicated to supporting and improving access to an optimal primary health workforce to enhance the health of Queensland communities.

Health Workforce Queensland is looking for a number of suitably skilled individuals with solid professional knowledge and a dedicated interest in the oversight and strategic direction of a high performing, purpose driven, not for profit at the intersection of health and workforce management in Queensland, to join its board of directors.

To complement the existing skills and experience of the Board, applications are particularly encouraged from individuals with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

- government health policy and funding;

- health organisational leadership;

- innovation, digital technology and cyber security; and

- revenue growth and diversification / entrepreneurial and commercial capability

Directors are appointed for an initial term of three years, with eligibility for reappointment subject to the Constitution and Board requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Directors are expected to:

- Provide strategic leadership and governance oversight.

- Act in the best interests of the organisation and fulfil all legal and fiduciary duties.

- Oversee organisational performance, financial sustainability, risk and compliance.

- Contribute to CEO oversight and succession planning.

- Support stakeholder relationships and act as an ambassador for the organisation.

- Participate actively in Board meetings,



committees and director development activities.

- Uphold the organisation's purpose, values and commitment to health equity for Queensland communities

Time Commitment

Directors are expected to:

- Attend approximately eight Board meetings annually.

- Participate in Board committee meetings as required.

- Attend strategic planning sessions, governance workshops and director development activities.

- Review Board papers and prepare adequately for meetings.

- Represent Health Workforce Queensland at stakeholder engagements and key organisational events as appropriate.

The estimated annual commitment is approximately 80 to 120 hours, depending on committee responsibilities and strategic priorities.
