As a Statutory Planer, you will contribute to a positive and high performing team focused on providing statutory planning services that realise the Darebin community’s vision for a more equitable, vibrant and connected municipality.

The position is responsible for town planning functions and providing clear, prompt advice to the public and Council staff on matters relating to the use and development of land. As a Band 5 role, the position focuses on providing day-to-day customer service and processing simple to average complexity statutory planning approvals, while refining and developing the incumbent’s professional knowledge and skills.

About the role:

The Statutory Planner supports the delivery of high quality land use and development in a progressive and customer first organisation. In this role, you will work across a diverse range of projects ranging from unit developments, heritage proposals, industrial and commercial developments and applications abutting our creek environments.

You will:





- Provide high-quality statutory planning advice and customer service to applicants, residents and Council staff.
- Assess and determine planning applications of easy to average complexity in accordance with policy and legislation.
- Prepare planning reports and recommendations for planning permit applications.
- Support Council’s representation at VCAT hearings.

About you:

These are the skills, experience and values we are looking for.

- Tertiary qualification in land-use/town planning or other closely related discipline.
- Well developed understanding of the Victorian urban planning system and related acts.
- Ability to research and analyse planning related issues.
- Ability to manage time, set priorities and prepare and implement work plans in order to achieve desired results within the resources and time available.
- Well developed customer service skills.
