Two separate opportunities | Warwick & Toowoomba | Contract positions

We are currently seeking motivated and practical Materials Officers to join our client across the Warwick and Toowoomba regions.
These roles are ideal for candidates who enjoy a combination of technical work, field work and hands-on activities, and who are looking to build their experience within road transport infrastructure.

The opportunities:

Trainee Materials Officer - Warwick | AO3
$44.18 - $46.92 per hour
Based in Warwick, this position involves assisting with the sampling and testing of construction materials used in road infrastructure, including soil, aggregate, concrete, bitumen and asphalt.
Working under supervision, you will undertake materials testing procedures, assist with field investigations and sampling, analyze test data and support research and project activities.

Assistant Materials Officer - Toowoomba | AO4
$48.82 - $53.42 per hour
Based in East Toowoomba, this position provides assistance to materials practitioners across sampling, basic construction materials testing, field investigations and instrumentation.
You will undertake basic materials classification and compliance testing, assist with specialist testing, equipment checking and calibration, sampling and investigations, and perform calculations using both manual and software-based tools.

What you'll be doing:
Across both positions, you will:

- Assist with sampling and testing of construction materials used in road infrastructure projects.




- Undertake materials testing and classification activities in accordance with relevant standards and procedures.
- Assist experienced materials practitioners and technical staff with field investigations and site activities.
- Use testing equipment, apparatus and other materials in accordance with documented procedures.
- Assist with equipment checking, calibration and instrumentation activities.
- Accurately record and analyse test results and data.
- Follow workplace health and safety requirements, policies and procedures.
- Work across both indoor and outdoor environments, including construction and field locations.
- Undertake regular physical activities including walking over uneven terrain, shovelling, manual handling and lifting samples and equipment up to 25kg.
- Travel to various locations throughout the region as required.

What we're looking for:
We are looking for candidates who are:

- Practical, reliable and willing to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Comfortable undertaking physically demanding work and manual handling activities.
- Able to follow technical procedures and instructions accurately.
- Safety conscious and committed to workplace health and safety.




- Comfortable travelling to regional work sites and working in the field.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team and under supervision.
- Numerate and comfortable working with calculations and technical information.
- Confident using computers and software, particularly for the AO4 position.

Previous experience in materials testing, construction, civil infrastructure, laboratories or a related technical setting would be advantageous.

Mandatory requirement:
A current Class C Driver Licence is required for both positions.
Applicants must also be able to safely perform the inherent physical requirements of the position, including manual handling, lifting, bending and extended periods of standing and walking.

Working conditions:
These are hands-on regional positions and may involve working in isolated locations, including areas where there may be limited or no mobile phone coverage for periods of up to five days.
Travel required for the role will be covered, including meals, incidentals and accommodation where applicable.

Both positions offer an initial contract with 2 x 6-month extension options, subject to operational requirements.
