Workday Application Support Specialist – HR Systems
- Own and improve a live Workday HR applications environment

The opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on Workday Application Support Specialist to support the operational stability, ongoing improvement and lifecycle management of a large HR technology environment.
This is not a project-only or traditional Business Analyst position. You will work across BAU application support, configuration, releases, integrations and system enhancements, helping ensure Workday and associated HR applications remain reliable, secure and fit for purpose.
Reporting to the Technical Product Owner for HR and Finance Applications, you will work with HR, Payroll, Technology, external vendors and implementation partners to resolve issues and deliver platform improvements.
Key responsibilities
- Provide Level 2/3 application support across Workday and associated HR platforms
- Investigate and resolve incidents, service requests and recurring system problems
- Support Workday configuration changes, enhancements and lifecycle activities
- Monitor integrations, interfaces and data flows for accuracy and stability
- Coordinate complex issue resolution across internal teams and external vendors
- Support Workday release cycles, including impact assessment, regression testing and post-release validation
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement preventative controls
- Identify opportunities to automate processes and reduce manual effort
- Contribute to the prioritisation and delivery of operational and enhancement backlogs
- Maintain runbooks, support procedures, system documentation and known-issue records
- Support security, privacy,
audit and data-protection requirements
About you
You will have hands-on experience supporting Workday in a large or complex production environment, with practical capability across at least two of the following areas:
- Core HCM
- Australian Payroll
- Recruitment and Onboarding
- Learning
- Talent Management
- Integrations
- Time, Absence or Workforce Management
You will also bring:
- Experience providing Level 2/3 support for enterprise HR applications
- An understanding of ITIL service management and SaaS support models
- Experience across incident, problem and change management
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
- Exposure to Workday configuration, testing and release management
- The ability to explain technical and functional issues to business stakeholders
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams
Relevant Workday certification or accreditation will be highly regarded.
Experience within government, transport, financial services or another regulated setting would be advantageous, as would familiarity with Jira, Confluence, security controls and data-protection requirements.
