Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a Locum General Medicine SRMO to support overnight medical coverage at a regional hospital.

This role is suited to a doctor with recent General Medicine experience who is confident working night shifts, reviewing patients, completing documentation and escalating clinical concerns appropriately.

Clinical Environment

You will provide ward-based General Medicine cover in a regional hospital setting within Hunter New England LHD.

- Overnight medical cover – support General Medicine patients across night shifts
- Ward-based exposure – review inpatients and assist with overnight management plans
- Night shift structure – shifts generally run 22:30 – 08:30
- Escalation support – work within a supportive team environment with clear pathways available
- Regional hospital experience – build confidence managing overnight ward-based care

Patient Demographic

You will support a broad General Medicine inpatient mix, including adults, older patients, acute medical admissions, chronic disease presentations, complex comorbidities and patients requiring overnight review, escalation or ongoing ward-based care.

Key Duties

- Review and manage General Medicine patients
- Support overnight ward-based care
- Complete documentation and handover
- Escalate patient concerns appropriately
- Work collaboratively with nursing, allied health and medical teams

Requirements

- Current AHPRA Registration




- Recent General Medicine experience at SRMO level
- Strong communication and clinical documentation skills
- Ability to complete SDPR training prior to commencement
- Current CV, references and compliance documents as required
