Our client is market leader in the design, engineering and manufacturing of specialist equipment for the mining, energy, and defence industries who are located in Tomago.

Due to a strong increase in product orders and business growth they are now requiring a Senior/Lead Design Engineer with robust Mechanical/Structural expertise, as well as a proven background in a fast paced manufacturing environment of specialist equipment.

In this role you will be responsible for providing direction, expertise and leadership to a team which will include;

- Managing and mentoring a small team
- Driving project performance, quality and delivery
- Monitor and report on work schedules
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport with customers, clients and/or suppliers
- Problem solving ability and initiative
- Plan and create schedules that meet production targets
- Be the driving force of the team's progression and encouraging a culture of innovation and value add
- Conducting design reviews and preparing design reports
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers and Production teams.





To be successfully considered for this rare opportunity you must have:

- Mechanical, Structural or Mechatronics Engineering degree essential
- Minimum 5-8 years Engineering experience
- Hands-on experience in Manufacturing environment
- Strong team leadership skills
- Strong report writing skills
- Experience auditing other engineers design work
- Inventor experience
- Advanced FEA expertise (hand calculations and 3D modelling)
